The Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC) in a meeting at New Delhi under the leadership of Kundan Kashmiri,it’s President today stated that recent discussion in the Assembly about return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to valley lacked seriousness, sincerity, and a concrete roadmap.Instead of debating it’s properly and purposefully and addressing the real concerns and priorities of the community, political leaders once again misused this critical return issue for their own interests, turning it into a mere theatrical performance without substance.

Kundan Kashmiri, President Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC ) stated that It is unacceptable that political leaders continue to dictate terms on our behalf without engaging with the legitimate Kashmiri Pandit leadership. KPC firmly asserts that no discussion on the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits can be meaningful unless the victim community is consulted first. Political parties cannot unilaterally decide where, when, and how displaced Kashmiri Pandits should return without first addressing their fundamental concerns. The Assembly members who raised this issue failed to consult the community’s leadership and did not present a practical, secure, and dignified plan for rehabilitation.

Senior leader of Kashmir Pandit community Kundan Kashmiri stated that if there is genuine intent to facilitate the return of Kashmiri Pandits, political leaders must first listen and properly consult to the community. The victim K.P. community alone has the right to determine the conditions of their return. No return can be imposed upon them for the political convenience of others. Unfortunately, instead of taking a serious, structured approach, the issue is being exploited as a political tool to serve those in power.

KPC strongly condemns the deliberate silence on the core issues of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. While the Assembly members spoke about their return, they conveniently ignored the most pressing concerns, on priority basis, including:
A single, secured, and permanent settlement in Kashmir to ensure safety and dignity.Passage of a Genocide Bill to officially recognize and address the crimes committed against Kashmiri Pandits.A judicial probe into the massacres of Wandhama, Nadimarg, and other brutal killings of innocent Pandits. Full implementation of the Distress Sale Act to restore properties forcibly sold or illegally occupied. Reinstatement of 20,000 jobs taken away from Kashmiri Pandits and handed over to separatist-linked individuals.
Increase in monthly relief payments for displaced relief holders to ensure a dignified life.Return of encroached lands, temples, shrines, and cremation grounds belonging to Kashmiri Pandits.
Ending discrimination against Kashmiri Pandits in government policies, recruitment, and education. Ensuring political representation for Kashmiri Pandits in governance and decision-making.

KPC Chief further stated that it is clear that political parties are misusing the Kashmiri Pandit return issue for their own survival, without any real intent to resolve their suffering as their goal is not a dignified return of victim Kashmiri Pandits, but to manipulate the community’s fate for political mileage.

KPC firmly declares that Kashmiri Pandits will never accept a return dictated by political leaders. Their return must be structured, dignified, and based on their own terms, not those set by parties that have ignored their plight for decades.

Kundan Kashmiri, President KPC stated that the Government of India must intervene immediately and ensure that Kashmiri Pandit community and it’s leadership is directly consulted before making any decisions regarding return and rehabilitation. A well-defined, structured, and community-led return plan must be formulated with constitutional safeguards, and the political exploitation of the Kashmiri Pandit issue must end immediately.

The Kashmiri Pandit community has suffered for over three decades in exile and refuses to be treated as a mere political tool. Their return cannot be reduced to hollow speeches in the Assembly. It must be a real, well-planned, and secure process based on their rightful demands. The betrayal of Kashmiri Pandits must end, and the time for real action has come.
Others senior leaders of Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC) expressed the similar views and hoped Government would give heed to the grave issues of Displaced Kashmiri Pandits at the earliest, which include Shri M.K Raina,Susheel Ji Bhat, Tej Pandita Ji, R.L.Raina, Suraj Wali, Rajender Dhar, S.L Zuthsi and others.
