LGs of JK, Ladakh to attend with delegations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to preside over the North Zone Council (NZC) meeting in Amritsar on September 26, which will also include key members from the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. The meeting will include development, inter-State/UT concerns, security scenarios, etc.

According to official sources, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner (Home) RK Goyal, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta would likely represent Jammu and Kashmir at the NZC meeting.

The meeting will likely feature Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brig (Retd) BD Mishra, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Dr Pawan Kotwal, and Head of Police UT of Ladakh Dr Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal.

Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan make up the North Zone Council.

The Chief Ministers of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, the Lieutenant Governors of J&K and Ladakh, and the Administrator of Chandigarh will all be present at the meeting, which will be presided over by Amit Shah, which will take place in Amritsar, Punjab.

The sources added that Shah and the leaders of the States/UTs will speak at the meeting. “Development, security situation, and inter-State/UT issues of member States and Union Territories are likely to be taken up at the meeting,” they said.
