Locals Protest In Pattan Village Against Water Shortage

Residents of Pattan village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir staged a protest against Jal Shakti Department on Monday.

According to reports reaching news agency Current News Of India-CNI, scores of women of Khambiyar Pattan staged a protest against the non availability of water in their area.

The protesters hit the streets and blocked Srinagar–Baramulla national highway for a few minutes to protest against non availability of water in their village.

While protesting the protesters demanded an immediate restoration of water supply.

A female protester said that “For the last one month, there has been an acute shortage of drinking water supply in the Khambiyar area which has forced us to resort to construct tube wells.”

Locals have met several officials, however, their issues were not redressed.

Protesters were dispersed peacefully after the Police and Civil administration reached on spot.(CNI)
