JAMMU: (CNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched an online application for citizens to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the election period.

The application is called ‘cVIGIL’ to identify the vigilant citizens of our country who can play an active and responsible role in conducting free and fair elections.

This innovative application ‘cVIGIL’ allows vigilant citizens to report live incidents of MCC violations within minutes of witnessing them. They no longer need to run to the Returning Officer’s office in their Assembly Constituency. Once an incident of MCC violation is reported by CVIGIL, it will be forwarded to a flying squad for investigation.

In case of a registered complaint, a unique identification number will be generated so that the citizen can track the status of his complaint. Anonymous complaints do not receive an identification number for tracking purposes.

Citizens can only use cVIGIL to report cases of MCC violation. For other complaints, they can use the facility available on ECI Citizen Services mobile app/website.

Citizens are encouraged to visit the official website of Election Commission of India https://www.eci.gov.in/ for more information. The application is available on both Android and iOS devices.(CNI)
