In a significant move towards strengthening human rights advocacy in Jammu and Kashmir, Mir Arifa Jan, the State President of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP), has been appointed as the State President (WW) of the BRICS Human Rights Mission for the Union Territory.
In her new role, Mir Arifa Jan will lead efforts to safeguard and promote human rights, with a particular emphasis on marginalized communities, including women, children, and individuals with disabilities. She has pledged to address the concerns of underserved populations and ensure their voices are heard.
Speaking on her appointment, Mir Arifa Jan emphasized the importance of social equity and justice in the region. โOur priority is to empower vulnerable communities by addressing their grievances and working towards their welfare. We encourage individuals from these sections to come forward and make their voices count,โ she stated.
