Srinagar : As part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) 2024, held in Srinagar, the group of 250 enthusiastic cadets and 20 ANO’S coming from 17 directorates all over the country, embarked on a memorable excursion exploring some of the region’s most iconic sites. The cadets visited Dal Lake, Nishat Garden, and Shri Pratap Singh Museum, culminating their day with a delightful meal in one of the gardens of the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).

The excursion commenced with a visit to the serene Dal Lake, renowned for its stunning views and vibrant houseboats. Following this, the group proceeded to Nishat Garden, one of the Mughal Gardens famously known as the “Garden of Joy.” The terraced garden, designed with Persian influences, offered the cadets a splendid view of its cascading fountains, manicured flowerbeds, and the distant Zabarwan Mountains. Following this, the cadets gathered at one of the gardens of the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre for a sumptuous meal.

The SKICC, renowned for its picturesque setting by the Dal Lake, offered the cadets an idyllic dining experience amidst lush green gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The educational aspect of the excursion was highlighted with a visit to the Shri Pratap Singh Museum. The museum named after Maharaja Pratap Singh of Kashmir, houses an impressive collection of Kashmiri artefacts, including ancient manuscripts, weapons and Buddhist artefacts, which further deeply fascinated the cadets.

The excursion was a part of the broader aim of the SNIC to foster national integration and provide cadets with first-hand experience of India’s diverse cultural heritage and made cadets appreciate Kashmir’s beauty and history, carrying memories of a day well spent amidst the enchanting landscapes and rich heritage of Srinagar.
