JAMMU,: (CNI) During the scrutiny of papers for the Jammu Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday, the nomination papers of three candidates were rejected, leaving 23 candidates in the fray.

 

In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu constituency, voting will be held on April 26.

 

He informed that Jammu Parliamentary Constituency Returning Officer Sachin Kumar Vaishya scrutinized the nomination papers submitted by the candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 

After thorough scrutiny, the nomination forms of 23 candidates were found to be valid, while the papers of three candidates, two covering candidates – Chanranjit Chargotra (BSP) and Indira Bhalla (Congress) – and Azad Ravinder Singh were routinely rejected. done said.

 

A covering candidate is fielded by the parties as a backup if the papers of the main nominee are rejected by the Returning Officer.

 

Out of the 23 candidates, there is a direct contest between sitting BJP MP Jogul Kishore and Congress’s Raman Bhalla. Kishor is looking for a hat-trick of wins after successfully retaining the Jammu Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 and 2019 elections.

 

Bahujan Samaj Party’s Jagdish Raj and Ekum Sanatan Bharat Dal’s Ankur Sharma are the other prominent candidates from this seat.

 

As per the election notification issued, candidates can withdraw their nomination papers before 3 pm on April 8 at the office of the Returning Officer. (CNI)
