On this August 15th,2024 as the nation stands tall and proud, celebrating yet another year of independence, we, the Kashmiri Pandit community, extend our heartfelt congratulations to our fellow countrymen. We rejoice in the spirit of freedom and unity that binds us as Indians. However, beneath this joy lies a deep-seated anguish that has festered for 35 long years, a pain that has been ignored, isolated, and largely unheard.
We, the Kashmiri Pandits, have always been true nationalists, unwavering in our love and loyalty to this great nation. Yet, our community continues to languish in exile, forgotten by the very country we hold dear. Despite our true and deep commitment to India’s unity and integrity, but our pleas for justice, rehabilitation, and acknowledgment have been met with silence.
Our homes, our heritage, our lives were torn away from us, and for more than three decades, we have waited patiently for a solution, for our voices to be heard. But our patience is running thin. The promises made to us remain unfulfilled, our demands unmet, and our wounds unhealed.
On this day of national pride, we remind our leaders and fellow citizens that our exile is not just a story of the past but a living reality that haunts us every day. The nation cannot truly be free until every Kashmiri Pandit to be truly rehabilitated as per their will and choice consolidatly with dignity, security, and justice.
Let this Independence Day be a turning point as a day when the nation finally recognizes the pain, agnoy and genocide of its forgotten patriots, the Kashmiri Pandits and takes decisive steps to end our suffering. We stand with India, as we always have. Now, it is time for India to stand with us.
