While claiming that 99 percent of Pakistan’s border infiltration attempts in Jammu and Kashmir this year have been foiled, Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Dilbagh Singh said that our effort is not only to control militancy from Jammu and Kashmir but to completely eliminat it.

He said that the border security grid has been strengthened more than ever to push back militants and thwart any attempt of arms and drug smuggling by Pakistan.

According to CNI, speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Dilbagh Singh said that the security agencies are fully alert and working to eliminate militancy.

He said, “Several encounters rook place on the borders, which is proof of the presence and vigilance of our forces.” He added that “Security forces have recently foiled many infiltration attempts along Line of Control in North Kashmir and Poonch Rajouri of Pir Panjal in Jammu region killing about a dozen infiltrators and seizing a huge cache of arms, explosives and narcotics.”

Dilbagh Singh said that the security agencies are on full alert and working to eradicate militancy. He said that the security grid on the borders is stronger than ever to thwart any attempt by Pakistan to push terrorists and smuggle arms and drugs.

Dilbagh Singh said, “Though infiltration efforts continue, we do not see an upward trend. Our border security grid is stronger than ever with the addition of new elements. We have already foiled 99% of such attempts this year.”

He said, “Our efforts are not only to control terrorism but to eliminate it completely. Whenever an infiltration attempt is made, whether we had prior information about it or not, our security arrangements are such that they (infiltrators) fall into our trap.”

He said the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is ‘Very good’ even as cross-border “conspiracies” have not ended.

“They are sending Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), arms and drugs through Rajouri, Poonch and North Kashmir,” added the DGP.

The police chief said, “It is clear that such devices are coming from across the border and are in the hands of active terrorist organizations and their cadres.”
