Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ghana is making headlines for all the right reasons. In a big step toward stronger ties, India and Ghana signed 4 major MoUs (agreements) in the fields of culture, health, standardisation, and institutional cooperation.
PM Modi met Ghanaian President John Mahama on Wednesday, and the two leaders officially upgraded their countries’ relationship to a “Comprehensive Partnership” — basically, next-level friendship between nations.
But that’s not all here’s what’s got everyone talking:
- UPI (India’s digital payment system) is all set to go international in Ghana
- The two countries will now work closely on critical minerals, defence, maritime security, and energy
- Both sides agreed to deepen cultural connections and people-to-people bonding
PM Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“India and Ghana also see immense scope in working closely in areas such as critical minerals, defence, maritime security and energy. Enhancing cultural linkages was also talked about.”
This visit marks the first-ever bilateral trip by an Indian PM to Ghana and is being hailed as a historic moment in India-Africa relations. A big leap for diplomacy and digital power!
