Baramula, 12 Aug (CNI) :Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police in Baramulla have booked 03 wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued here to News-agency Current News of India (CNI), a police spokesperson said that acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Baramulla Police booked 3 Most wanted & notorious drug smugglers namely Khurshid Ahmad Bakshi S/o Md. Rafiq Bakshi R/o Watalpora Tangmarg, Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/o Ab. Jabbar Wani R/o Dangerpora Baramulla & Bashir Ahmad Ganai S/o Lt. Wali Md. Ganai R/o Trikanjan Boniyar under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these drug Smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Watalpora Tangmarg, Dangerpora, Heewan, Sheeri, Trikanjan Boniyar & other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.(CNI)
