Baramulla, 07 June (CNI): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the means of drugs from society, police have destroyed poppy (Opium Plant) Cultivation on 3.2 Kanals of Land at Poshnag Kreeri, Dangerpora & Checksari Pattan.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that baramulla Police received information regarding illegal cultivation of Poppy (opium plant) at Poshnag Kreeri, Dangerpora & Check Sari Pattan.
Accordingly a police party consisting of personnel from Police Station Kreeri led by SHO PS Kreeri Inspr Arif Hamid alongwith Magistrate under the overall supervision of Khalid Ashraf-JKPS, SDPO Kreeri reached the spot and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy on a field measuring approx about 2.5 Kanals of land at Poshnag Kreeri.
Similarly, police party consisting of personnel from Police Station Pattan led by Inspr Sarjan Ahmad, SHO PS Pattan alongwith Magistrate under the overall supervision of Altaf Ahmad Khan-JKPS, DySP Ops Pattan reached the spot and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy on a field measuring approx about 7 Marlas of land at Dangerpora & Checksari Pattan.
Cases in this regard has been registered under sections of NDPS Act in Police Station Kreeri & Pattan and investigation has started. Land Owners has been identified and action under law will be taken against them.
Meanwhile the general public is requested to extend cooperation to the Police and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighborhood.(CNI)
