Baramulla, 10 June (CNI) : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the means of drugs from society, police have destroyed poppy (Opium Plant) Cultivation on 3.5 Kanals of Land at Khamindarpora, Zaspora & Pazalpora areas of Tangmarg of Baramulla district.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that baramulla Police received information regarding illegal cultivation of Poppy (opium plant) at Khamindarpora, Zaspora & Pazalpora areas of Tangmarg.
Accordingly a police party consisting of personnel from Police Station Tangmarg led by SHO PS Tangmarg Inspr Tawseef Habib alongwith Executive Magistrate of Revenue department, Excise Department & Agriculture department under the overall supervision of Imtiaz Ahmed-JKPS, SDPO Tangmarg reached the spots and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy on a field measuring approx about 3.5 Kanals of land.
Cases in this regard has been registered under sections of NDPS Act in Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has started. Land Owners has been identified and action under law will be taken against them.
Meanwhile the general public is requested to extend cooperation to the Police and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighborhood.(CNI)
