Poonch Militant Attack : DG BSF, Top Officers of JK Police visits Poonch, reviews Security Situation

Srinagar, 23 April (CNI) : Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) S L Thaosen today visited twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch,particularly bhatta durrain in Mendhar Tehsil of poonch, where five army personnel lost their lives while one is injured after militants attacked an army vehicle near Tota Gali on Thursday afternoon.

As per the news agency-Current News of India (CNI) Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) S L Thaosen today visited forward areas and reviewed security situation and challenges along the Line of Control (LoC) in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in this region and also had security-related discussions with Director General of Police Dilbag Singh and other CRPF Commanders based in Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Officials said that Thaosen, who arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit on Thursday, visited forward defence locations in Rajouri and Poonch districts and reviewed the overall deployment of BSF and also domination plan on forward defence locations, they said.

During his visit, the BSF chief also interacted with the jawans on the ground and exhorted them to deliver their best at all Flanked by BSF ADG P V Rama Sastry, IG Jammu Frontiers D K Boora, senior police and CRPF officers, DG Thaosen reviewed the challenges and present security situation during his visit to BSF field locations in Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch.

The BSF DG’s visit to twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch comes at a time when five Army soldiers sacrified their lives and another injured in a terror attack at Bhatta Durrian in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier on Thursday, the BSF chief reviewed the prevalent security scenario in Jammu and then visited the BSF headquarters in Rajouri in the evening.Yesterday, IG BSF Jammu DK Boora gave a detailed presentation to the DG, covering all the critical aspects of border security and domination on the Jammu IB & Line of Control in the wake of the terror attack in Mendhar.

The IG briefed the Director General about the general security scenario in the area of operation, covering the deployment pattern of BSF battalions and their robust domination on the IB on the Jammu frontier.

The BSF DG also talked to the Field Commanders about recent threats being faced by the BSF on the LoC and the IB.(CNI)
