Productive Meeting with Labour Commissioner J&K on Market Closure Days
Srinagar, September 11, 2024: An important meeting was held today with the Labour Commissioner J&K S. Charandeep singh (JKAS) online. The meeting was attended from the office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner Srinagar. The meeting was attended by ALC Srinagr Dr Adnan Tariq (JKAS), trade representatives from various associations, including the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF), JKBC -Jammu And Kashmir Business Confederation,City Traders and Manuftures, Federation,The Joint Traders Association (JTA), an amalgamation of 14 markets in the city centre,Lal Chowk, Beopar Mandal Maharaja Gung,Traders Association Kokerbazar,Traders Association City Centre Lalchowk,Traders Association Barbarshah Nai sarak and others. The discussion, held in a cordial atmosphere, focused on the mandatory closure days for markets.
During the meeting, representatives requested an additional 10 days to review the proposed order. The Labour Commissioner agreed to a 10-day period during which the Labour Department will not implement the order. Key attendees included KTMF General Secretary (Org)/Publicity Chief Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh),The Joint Traders Association (JTA), an amalgamation of 14 markets in the city Centre Head Farhan Kitab, Constitutional Head KTMF Farooq Batqoo, Additional General Secretary Showkat Ahmed Bhat, Sr. Vice President S.A. Rashid of the Jammu and Kashmir Business Confederation (JKBC), Traders Association Kokerbazar Sr. Vice President Hilal Ahmed Kuchay, Beopar Mandal representatives Ayjaz and Mushtaq Sahib, and representatives from the Traders Association City Centre Lal Chowk, including Sheeraz Sahib, Feroz, Khalid Baba, Rinku, and others.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue the dialogue to address the concerns of the business community.
