Chandigarh: Punjabi descent Sukha Duneke, a gang leader wanted by the NIA, was killed in a gunfight between rival gangs in Winnipeg, Canada, according to the various media reports.

In Canada, Sukhdool Singh, also known as Duneke, was a member of the Khalistan movement.

In 2017, Duneke, a member of the Punjab-based Devinder Bambiha Gang, eluded capture by using fraudulent passports to enter Canada.

His name appeared on the list of 43 gangsters that the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which was looking for information regarding his illegal properties, disclosed on Wednesday.

His murder on Wednesday evening is similar to the inter-gang conflict in Surrey in June that resulted in the death of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
