Jammu : An appeal—— Kind attention is invited of Honorable Lt.Governor, Jammu and Kashmir towards urgent enhancement of relief to KP relief holders, who have reached now to the point of starvation due to the financial crunch, hike in prices and due to increasing of other responsibilities.

Namaskar sir,

The Kashmiri Pandit community, particularly the relief holders, find themselves in the throes of an unimaginable crisis, grappling with severe financial constraints. Among the registered migrants, a staggering 30 to 35 percent are relief holders, predominantly comprising overage youths aged between 45 to 55, with out means and jobs, some formers and shopkeepers. These individuals bore the brunt of the turmoil in the valley, enduring the loss of livelihoods and opportunities, and having not any government employment. Despite their sacrifices, they have been left to fend for themselves, receiving a paltry sum of merely about three thousand rupees per month per head as relief assistance from the government.

Sir, stripped of their land, businesses, and assets in valley, these relief holders shoulder the responsibility of supporting their families, typically comprising four to five members, as well as caring for aging parents. However, the meager relief amount falls woefully short of meeting even the most basic needs, let alone providing quality education for their children, nutritious meals, or adequate clothing. Many are unable to afford tuition fees or enroll their children in reputable schools, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities.

Sir, compounding their plight, a significant portion of relief holders must also contend with the burden of paying rent, further diminishing their already inadequate income. The situation is dire, with some struggling to afford even two meals a day, let alone plan for the future, including the education and marriage of their daughters.

Sir, in light of these harrowing circumstances, urgent intervention from the government is imperative. An immediate increase in relief assistance to a minimum of five thousand rupees per month per individual is essential to alleviate their suffering and ensure their basic needs are met. Additionally, offering financial aid or interest-free loans of up to twenty-five lakh rupees to facilitate the establishment of small businesses would empower relief holders to regain financial independence and rebuild their shattered lives.

Sir, the government must recognize the urgent need to address the plight of Kashmiri Pandit relief holders, who have now reached to point of starvation , so to take decisive action to provide them with the support and assistance they so desperately require. Failure to do so would not only perpetuate their suffering but also undermine the principles of justice and compassion upon which a just society is built.

Sir, it is incumbent upon authorities to act swiftly and decisively to alleviate the suffering of these individuals and restore hope for their brighter future.

Thaking you sir, in anticipation

Your,s sincerely
