Srinagar, 19 April (CNI): Baramulla Police on Wednesday arrested a Sarpanch for allegedly raping a woman in rawoocha Rafiabad area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Sources told News-agency Current News of India (CNI) that a woman was allegedly raped by a Sarpanch under the jurisdiction of Rafiabad police station in Baramulla district.
A written complaint was moved by the victim and during the course of the investigation, statements of the victim and other witnesses were recorded under the relevant provisions of the law.
Subsequently, the accused Sarpanch identified as Ali Mohd Dar son of Ab Ahad Dar resident of Rawoocha Rafiabad, was arrested.
An FIR has been registered under FIR no 26/2023 u/s 376, 506, 109 IPC against the accused at the concerned police station and further investigation has been initiated in this regard. (CNI)
