Srinagar, , CNI: In response to the intensifying heat wave sweeping across Jammu and Kashmir, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday announced that school timings across the Union Territory will be revised from Monday onwards to ensure student safety.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said she had already directed the School Education Department to implement the changes promptly. “I have instructed the department to adjust the school timings in view of the rising temperatures,” Itoo said.
The decision comes after several parents raised concerns about children feeling unwell during early morning activities. “One parent informed me that their child felt dizzy during the morning assembly. Such complaints cannot be ignored,” the minister said.
Itoo also ordered an immediate halt to morning assemblies in open spaces. “From now on, morning assemblies must not be conducted in the open. I have issued clear instructions on that,” she said.
While addressing the issue of summer vacations, the minister said that any decision regarding the same will be taken at an appropriate time, depending on how the weather situation evolves. (CNI)
