Srinagar, 03 May (CNI) : Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Baramulla arrested seven gamblers and seized Rs 10,280 stake money from their possession at Sultanpora and Buran Pattan
At Sultanpora Pattan: Police party of Police Post Wussan received specific information regarding presence of gamblers at Sultanpora Pattan.
Acting upon the information police party led by PSI Rayees Ahmad, IC PP Wussan rushed towards the spot.
On seeing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but we’re apprehended tactfully.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Gh Hassan Khanday S/O Mohd Sultan R/O Wazpora Naidkhai, Mohd Younis Dar S/O Gh Rasool R/O Arampora Sumbal & Ishfaq Ahmad Najar S/O Mohd Abdullah R/O Anderkot Chan Mohalla Sumbal
Playing cards alongwith stake money of ₹ 4,820/were recovered from them.
At Buran Pattan: Police party of Police Station Pattan received specific information regarding presence of gamblers in orchards of Buran Pattan.
Acting upon the information police party led by Inspr. Sarjan Ahmad, SHO PS Pattan rushed towards the spot.
On seeing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but we’re apprehended tactfully.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Gh Mohd Rather S/O Gh Mohidin Rather, Mohd Ashraf Sofi S/O Gh Qadir Sofi, Mohd Sadiq Khan S/O Sonaullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Ali Mohd Bhat all residents of Buran Pattan.
Playing cards alongwith stake money of ₹ 5,460/ were recovered from them.
Meanwhile Cases under sections of 13 Gambling Act registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation taken up.(CNI)
