Sopore : Continuing its unwavering efforts against “inimical” elements, Sopore police has arrested notorious bootlegger and recovered huge consignment of illicit liquor from his possession.
On 15 November 2023 Police party headed by SHO Tarzoo established a checkpoint (Naka) at Amargrah crossing, during Naka checking one person carrying two bags and roaming in suspicious manner was signalled to stop for checking.
However the said person after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot and was chased, after strenuous efforts he was apprehended tactfully and 39 bottles of illicit Liquor (350 and 750 ml) were recovered from his possession. He was identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/O Banpora Langate.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 116/2023 under relevant sections of Excise Act stands registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation was taken up.(CNI)
