KTMF Criticizes Delays in Srinagar’s Smart City Project, Cites Ongoing Inconveniences for Commuters : Mohammad Altaf Dar

Srinagar, May 26 : The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has voiced strong concerns over the prolonged delays and ongoing disruptions caused by the Smart City project in Srinagar. Despite the project’s ambitious plans to transform major stretches of the city into smart roads, daily commuters continue to face dug-up roads, unfinished footpaths, and constant traffic diversions.

Mohammad Altaf Dar, General Secretary Organization KTMF, stated, “Years after the launch of the Smart City project, the only experience for daily commuters has been one of inconvenience and frustration. Instead of smart roads, residents are navigating through construction zones and enduring significant traffic disruptions.”

The project, intended to modernize the city’s infrastructure and improve the quality of urban life, has so far fallen short of its goals. The KTMF emphasizes the urgent need for the authorities to expedite the completion of the project and alleviate the hardships faced by the city’s residents and businesses.

“We understand the scale and complexity of such projects,” Dar continued, “but the prolonged timelines and lack of visible progress are unacceptable. The authorities must take immediate action to ensure that Srinagar’s roads are safe and accessible for everyone.”

The KTMF calls for a transparent update on the project’s progress and a definitive timeline for its completion. They also urge for better management of the construction sites to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists alike.CNI
