Jammu, (CNI NEWS) Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra on Thursday said that the youth and students of the country are facing serious challenges to their

careers and livelihoods under the BJP-led government, alleging that the Centre is trying to divert public attention from pressing issues such as unemployment, inflation, paper leaks and alleged irregularities.Karra was addressing the national programme of the AICC, “Chopal Pe Charcha”, organised by Congress’s Jammu Urban unit at Rajiv Bhawan here.Karra said the

campaign was being launched across the Union Territory to discuss issues directly affecting people, including electricity, water, roads and the unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities.“Through these campaigns, we are raising issues concerning the people and issues directly connected with their lives — whether it is electricity, water, roads or inflation. Inflation has reached such high levels that poor people are finding it extremely difficult to bear,” he told reporters here.He said issues relating to alleged “Chanda Chori”, students, the economy,

unemployment and paper leaks are being discussed across the country.“Taking all these issues of paper leaks, donations stealing and other concerns together, our entire young generation is standing up and demanding its rights. From every state, we are receiving requests that Rahul ji should come forward and represent their voice,” Karra said.Alleging that the BJP was attempting to divert attention from the real problems confronting people, he said the government could not “hide for too long” from

issues being debated across the country.“The BJP has been trying to cover up and hide behind other issues being raised by them to divert the attention of the people from these real issues and the great economic distress faced by every common man in this country,” he said.Karra also flagged what he termed unprecedented price rise, large-scale unemployment among youth and alleged paper leaks and bungling in recruitment processes across the country.“The youth and

students of the country face real-time challenges to their careers and livelihoods under the Modi government. The recent protests by students at Jantar Mantar and elsewhere in the country were an outburst of their anger and frustration and a silent revolt against the Modi government and BJP,” he said.Referring to Jammu’s role in national politics, Karra said, “Today you can see that Jammu is playing a central role in the politics of the country.” He also alleged that the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to address issues confronting the people and claimed that the government was

apprehensive of the Opposition.Former minister Raman Bhalla criticised what he described as the “anti-youth, anti-student and anti-common people” policies of the BJP government, particularly in the fields of education and employment.“The youth of the country is very much annoyed and angry over the policies of education and employment under the present regime, especially the bungling and

commercialisation of the system,” he said.Bhalla said the youth wanted a change in the system and claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s leadership was encouraging young people to lead a change in society.He said the AICC programme would be taken to every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir.Former minister Yogesh Sawhney said the programme is aimed at highlighting the

issues faced by common people, particularly youth, students, farmers and small traders.“The common people of the country have seen through the designs and tactics of the BJP government and party and are no longer ready to be hoodwinked or befooled,” he said. CNI NEWS
