Two militants killed as Kokernag operation ended after a week

Sep, 20, 2023 CNI News: Security forces stated on Wednesday that two militants were killed in a week-long gunfight in the forest area of Kokernag hamlet in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, adding that the combined operation ended with the recovery of rifles, ammunition, and other war-like supplies.

According to the reports, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out a joint operation in the Garol area of Anantnag from September 13 to September 19 in response to specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.

The first contact was establishedon September 13, which led to a battle and a prolonged operation that lasted until September 19. The joint operation has been completed with the killing of two militants, the recovery of two AK-47s, one pistol, and other warlike supplies.

Similarly, the Army’s on social media handle, X formerly (Twitter), wrote: “ChinarCorps salutes the supreme valour & sacrifice of Col Manpreet Singh, SM, DySP Humayun Bhat, Maj Aashish Dhonchak, SM & Sep Pardeep Singh who laid down their lives in service of the Nation, in the highest traditions of the Indian Army and JKP.”
