New Delhi, (CNI): Delhi High Court Judge Justice Sachin Dutta’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal has booked the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (Shabbir Shah’s JKDFP) as an illegal association. The order of annulment is affirmed.
The case was handled by Additional Solicitor General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Aishwarya Bhatti and Advocate Rajat Nair. The confirmation order of the tribunal will now be communicated by the government in a couple of days.
Recently the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has constituted the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal to decide whether there is sufficient reason to declare the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party as an unlawful association.
The notification issued states that the Central Government hereby constitutes the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal headed by Justice Sachin Dutta, Judge, High Court of Delhi, for the purpose of deciding whether Jammu and Is there enough reason to declare Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party or not? (JKDFP) as a non-statutory association,
The Government of India declared the ‘Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party’ (JKDFP) as an ‘unlawful association’ under Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) 1967 in October 2023.
The press statement issued in this regard said that this organization has been involved in anti-national activities since 1998 and its members have always promoted separatism and terrorist activities in India.
The members of this organization want to incite people to make Kashmir a separate Islamic state which is against the sovereignty, security and integrity of India.
Several criminal cases have been registered against this organization under various provisions of UAPA 1967, IPC 1860, The Arms Act 1959 and Ranbir Penal Code 1932. (CNI)
