Vice Chairman LCMA Reviews Dal-Nigeen Conservation Plan

Vice Chairman, Shahid Saleem Dar, on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the Dal and Nigeen lakes conservation plan and assess the status of ongoing developmental works under the Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LCMA).

The meeting focused on various aspects of Dal and Nigeen lakes conservation and management, including the status of works under Capex, recurring activities under GIA, and the integrated management plan for the conservation program of the Dal and Nigeen lake ecosystem under CSS. It was informed that out of 62 works taken up during 2024-25 under different heads, 26 works have been completed to date.

The proposed plans in the pipeline were also reviewed. The concerned officers were instructed to ensure the timely completion of all developmental projects and remain committed to delivering results transparently and on time.

The Vice Chairman stressed that the following initiatives should be incorporated into the upcoming execution plan: clearing all water channels, beautification of all water channels, trash skimmers for collecting trash, new STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants), new MHA project worth 212 Cr., Ferris wheel on the lines of the London Eye, floating cafes, theme park, musical fountains, and aerators, etc.
