Sevak of the Kashmiri Pandit Community & President, KPCThe Kashmiri Pandit community, victimized by centuries of

persecution and culminating in the tragic exodus over 35 years ago, has endured unimaginable pain, suffering, and alienation.

This prolonged exile has deeply scarred our collective psyche and disrupted our cultural and social fabric. It is now imperative to secure a peaceful, dignified life for displaced Kashmiri Pandits through the establishment of a consolidated, one-place settlement within the Kashmir Valley.

This demand is not just logical but essential for the preservation of our identity, security, and existence. The displacement of Kashmiri Pandits was not merely a forced migration but a

deliberate rupture of our centuries-old cultural and ancestral ties. The valley, once our home, became hostile territory, stripping us of our

sense of belonging. A consolidated settlement within Kashmir would symbolically and practically reclaim our rightful place in the land of our

forefathers. It would restore our connection to our roots, enabling us to rebuild our shattered

identity and ensure the survival of our heritage as a united community. The scattered existence of Kashmiri Pandits across the valley has amplified feelings of isolation, marginalization, and insecurity. Living as minorities in Muslim-

dominated areas has subjected our community to social exclusion, discrimination, and a lack of representation in local governance.

These challenges undermine our well-being and safety. A one-place settlement would strengthen our

collective voice, create a robust support system, and enhance our capacity to advocate for our rights effectively. The trauma of displacement and the constant sense of being “othered” have left

many Kashmiri Pandits grappling with stress, anxiety, and depression. A unified settlement would foster solidarity, offering a supportive

environment where community members could heal from past wounds, rebuild their lives, and rediscover dignity and resilience.

The absence of a cohesive community in exile has threatened the transmission of Kashmiri Pandit culture,

language, and traditions to future generations. A consolidated settlement would serve as a cultural hub, allowing us to celebrate festivals, preserve rituals, and pass on our rich heritage.

This would ensure the revival and continuity of our identity in the valley.Living together allows the Kashmiri Pandit community to safeguard its unique

traditions, language, and identity, preventing erosion in exile. Concentration in one secure area minimizes vulnerability to targeted attacks or harassment.Proximity fosters strong social,

emotional, and economic bonds, ensuring no individual feels alone in their struggles. Centralized settlements can provide better access to education, healthcare, employment, and government services .

A concentrated population can attract investments and development initiatives, leading to modern amenities and improved living conditions.

A unified settlement amplifies the community’s political voice, enabling effective advocacy for rights and interests. Living together allows the revival and celebration of festivals, rituals, and

cultural practices, ensuring they remain vibrant and meaningful. The establishment of a one-place settlement for displaced Kashmiri Pandits is not merely a demand; it is a necessity to restore justice, ensure security, and revitalize our

identity. It addresses immediate socio-economic challenges while healing the deep psychological scars caused by decades of exile.

This proposal, spearheaded by the Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), deserves the unwavering support of every displaced Kashmiri Pandit living outside the

valley. It is time for our community to unite and prioritize this viable solution for a dignified and secure future..We must seize this opportunity to

reclaim our rightful place, restore our heritage, and ensure the survival of our community for generations to come.”Support this genuine and crucial demand for a consolidated settlement

within the Kashmir Valley. Let us rise together as one voice to rebuild our collective identity and existence”.[KUNDAN KASHMIRI]Kashmir Watcher & President, KPCEmail: kundankashmiri@gmail.com | Mobile: 880 2167955
