Srinagar, July 6: On the holy day of Youm-e-Ashura (10th Muharram), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took part in the Zuljanah procession held at Botakadal, Srinagar on Sunday morning, showing a strong gesture of unity and respect.
As thousands of mourners gathered to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), LG Sinha personally distributed water and refreshments to the participants. He also offered a chaddar (sacred cloth) to Zuljanah, the symbolic horse, before the start of the procession.
Top officials including IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, SSP Srinagar, DC Srinagar, and other senior police officers were also present to supervise and ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Across the Kashmir Valley, Muharram processions were held with deep emotion and reverence, remembering the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) in the battle of Karbala.
The administration urged everyone to maintain peace and respect the sanctity of the occasion, calling for full public cooperation.
A rare gesture by the LG is being widely appreciated on social media, as people hailed the move as a step towards peace, harmony, and communal respect in Kashmir.
