Anantnag Village Faces Water Shortage, Residents Protest

The residents of Ashdar Kharam area of Anantnag district of South Kashmir protested against Jal Shakti Department on Saturday. According to news agency Current News Of India-CNI, the local residents of Ashdar staged a protest as they are facing acute water shortage. Ghulam Muhammad, a local resident, said, “Water has not been supplied in our area for the past one month and everyone in the village is worried about the water crisis. Although water is an important part of life in our daily life, we are craving for every single drop of water.”Local people alleged that “we have approached every official of the concerned department to restore water supply, but no one is paying attention to our complaint.”The local people accused the Jal Shakti Department of not paying any attention to the water supply facility in the village and said that the employees in the area are not doing their duty properly. The residents appealed LG administration and the district administration to look into the matter and solve their problem.In this matter, when CNI spoke with the AEE department of Jal Shakti, he said that steps are being taken to ensure water supply to the area.(CNI)
