Mohammad Altaf Dar denounces government neglect in road widening at Kursoo Rajbagh Bund, demands fair compensation for affected communities & traders.”

Srinagar, April 24, 2024 – Mohammad Altaf Dar, a prominent socio-political activist and senior trade union leader, has vehemently condemned the government’s road widening initiatives in Kursoo Rajbagh, Zero-Bridge, and IG link road areas. Mr.Altaf Dar has raised serious concerns regarding the lack of compensation and rehabilitation measures for the affected communities and traders.

 

The government’s decision to proceed with road widening without adequately addressing the needs of those impacted has sparked widespread outrage among residents. Mr. Altaf Dar, known for his steadfast commitment to social justice and human rights, has emphasized the necessity of ensuring that development projects do not disproportionately affect marginalized groups.

Mr.Altaf Dar has called upon the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, as well as other government officials including the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, and Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, to promptly address the grievances of affected communities. He urges meaningful dialogue to reach a resolution that respects their rights and dignity.
