Jammu May 27 : I am writing to your good self on behalf of the frontal organization of Kashmiri Pandits, the Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) to bring to your immediate kind attention the disturbing voting irregularities that occurred on May 25, 2024, in village Ranipora, Anantnag, Kashmir. We urge an urgent investigation into these irregularities to ensure the protection of voting rights and the integrity of the electoral process.

On the day of the election, non-migrant Kashmiri Pandit voters were unjustly barred from casting their ballots at Polling Station 80 in Ranipora, Achbal, Anantnag. These voters were informed that Form-13 had been submitted on their behalf, transferring their votes to the Kashmiri Pandit (KP) migrant voting list in Jammu. This false pretext deprived them of their rightful opportunity to vote locally in Ranipora, where they have consistently voted in the past.

Mr. Manu Ji Kachroo, a resident and voter from Ranipora, and other non– migrant Kashmiri Pandits voiced theor profound concern and frustration through media and other means . They questioned the logic behind expecting non-migrant residents to vote in Jammu when they have never relocated and have always participated in local elections in Ranipora, Anantnag. The affected families, comprising ten households with fifty registered voters, firmly state that none of them had filled and completed Form-13 to be listed as migrant voters.

This incident appears to be a deliberate manipulation by political parties or their agents,or some others taking advantage of the Kashmiri Pandit community’s vulnerabilities. Such fraudulent actions undermine the democratic process and violate the fundamental rights of these citizens.

In light of these grave concerns, the Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC) appeals to you, the Hounable Chief Election Commissioner of India, to:

1. Initiate a thorough investigation into the voting irregularities in Ranipora, Anantnag.

2. Ensure that the affected voters’ rights are restored and that they are allowed to cast their votes locally.

3. Hold accountable those responsible for these fraudulent actions and any similar acts of voter manipulation.

We also request the Chief Election Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir and the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag to provide their full cooperation in this investigation to uphold the electoral integrity and justice for the Kashmiri Pandit community.

Sir, your prompt attention and action on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

[Kundan Kashmiri]
